Racial Harmony and Cultural Awareness Award
Purpose:
To recognize an individual, organization and business that has demonstrated an appreciation and respect for cultural differences and value for differing backgrounds and points of view.
Description:
The Racial Harmony and Cultural Awareness Award will be given annually to an individual, organization and business who have actively and positively promoted the concept of racial harmony and cultural awareness within the city of Ocala and throughout Marion County.
Criteria:
The recipients will have demonstrated a high regard for racial harmony and cultural awareness by demonstrating one or more of the following:
- A commitment to the spirit of diversity
- Leadership through positive interaction between persons of different cultural backgrounds
- Behavior which illustrates commitment to inclusion of persons within the institution who are members of traditionally under-represented groups
All residents, organizations and businesses of Marion County are eligible for nominations.
Nomination Process:
Details are currently being worked out. For more information, contact Jillian Ramsammy. A committee of members from the City of Ocala Racial Harmony Task force will select award recipients.
